Based off the desire to share my personal work and ongoing projects, I wanted to create a theme that would resonate with other Photographers who also seek to display their work in a similar way. “Sylvan” was designed to satisfy the professional needs through smooth navigation, aestheticism, and ease of contact, while also fulfilling individualism and showcasing ongoing accomplishments.

The demo for this theme is being used for my website. Please review the list of features that are included, or not included, at the bottom of the page.

As soon as visitors enter your website, they will be introduced to a Featured Post of your choice. Through the WordPress Customizer, you will be able to enter the ID of the post you wish to feature. Visitors will also have the ability to subscribe to your mailing list through the banner at the top of the page; which is visible across the whole site. Once a visitor starts to scroll and explore your home page, the cookies pop-up will appear.

Located on the front page below the Featured Post, is the Recent Posts section. Within the WordPress Customizer, you can enter the category-slug of the posts you wish to show.

When opening the navigation menu and selecting the category page to explore, your posts will be displayed similarly to that on your front page. When reading and viewing a posts content on desktop view (only), next and previous post buttons will appear on either side of the screen; hovering over them will display which post is coming up.

One of the unique features of this theme is the Curated Exhibition section located below your Recent Posts section on the front page. This section is intended for those who are currently working on a project, gallery, book, or collection, and wish to display a sneak peek of their work. When viewing from a desktop, visitors will have the interactive experience of hovering over one of the smaller images, which will then cause a zoom effect on the larger image to the left.

And lastly, below the Curated Exhibition is the Featured Publications section. This section is meant for pages (not posts) that feature your feats and-or unique articles. For example, I use this section to share my products. They have their own specific page template, as well as a parent page template to which they will be nested under and act like categories.

More info about this section and how to set it up can be found within the WordPress Customizer—Setup Guide & Resources—Dashboard Setting—then scroll down to Page Templates and find Theme Template: Parent Page and Theme Template: Posts Page.

When using the Search Page, typing your keyword into the search bar will show how many results were found along with the keyword you searched. Each result will display whether the content is a post or a page, its’ title, and its’ excerpt.

Several other features to this theme include but are not limited too:

On-scroll animations Adjacent posts buttons on the Post Content page (only for desktop view) Custom Instagram carousel in the footer (manually add photos and links) Customizable logo on the navigation bar Subscribe sign up widget (located on the site banner) Customizable theme fonts and colours

This theme also contains several customizations that cannot be changed:

No enter site screen No audio on front page No Project Board section on the front page (this is unique to my theme and has been replaced with the Curated Exhibition section) No sidebar Header image option disabled Widget spaces not provided (widgets will only be able to be added onto Post Content pages and Page Content pages through the editor block)

In the case you wish to make changes to this theme, it is recommended you create a child theme beforehand.
